Hello and welcome to my blog! As I'm sure you guessed, my name is Kristin. By day I am a lawyer (I'm not really sure what kind of lawyer anymore, but that's another story) and by night a wife to my junior high sweetheart (that's right, we've been together for 14 years, but only married for two) and mom to my darling furangels Miley and Maddy (Maltese in case you are wondering what breed). I've been creating and designing for as long as I can remember. After a short hiatus during law school (I fought the law and the, law won), a friend from work got me back in the groove and I've been striving to become Martha Stewart ever since!
I came by this honestly. My Mom is quite creative herself (although she will adamantly deny this fact). Someday I will post about some of my favorite things my Mom has made and designed. You will be super impressed. She is also the best cook in the world and I luckily inherited a tiny bit of her kitchen talent. The funny thing is, she hates to cook. I've been working to expand my cooking skills since getting married, so I'll be sure to share some of my favorite recipes!
My Dad is quite a character. He is very funny and very inventive. I'm still discovering things that I believed were true but were just things he made up. Most recently (2 weeks ago), my husband and I were driving down the interstate when a flying piece of tire hit my car. I referred to this as "an alligator" (since that is what my Dad always called them) and my husband had no idea what I was talking about. His comment was "let me guess, did your Dad teach you this?" Ha!
My sister inherited this creative gene as well, but expresses it a bit differently. She was a dancer (no, not the pole kind, the Broadway kind), a talented artist in her own right. Every now and then her crafty side will surface, which results in the most beautiful and unusual Christmas present wrapping you've ever seen. Once I received a gift card that was inside of a fake snowcone she made. Brilliant! My sister and her husband Andrew have impeccable taste from which I draw a lot of inspiration.
And then there is my husband, Jason. Without him, all of my projects would be an epic fail. He is ingenious. Math and geometry are, to put it nicely, not my strong suit. Unfortunately for me, I'm realizing that there is a lot more math and geometry to life than I realized. Thankfully, my sweet and patient husband helps me along when I'm "engineering" a new project. He is my constant companion and a true partner in everything I do.
So that's basically my story. Now, on to becoming Martha!
Charmingly,
Kristin
